How STADA retained company knowledge and scaled training with Easygenerator

Training at STADA was scattered, with some sessions unrecorded and progress tracked through spreadsheets. Recognizing the need to optimize its approach, STADA introduced Easygenerator, enabling the company to capture critical knowledge and scale training across 45 countries.

Introduction

STADA Arzneimittel AG is a healthcare company that specializes in generics, specialty pharmaceuticals and non-prescription consumer healthcare (CHC) products. STADA employs 11,500 people worldwide and continues to grow. So does its commitment for effective training and knowledge sharing among its global teams. This is where Mélanie Ecks (Head of Global Talent Management) and Tara Rodic (Global Talent Management Associate) play a crucial role. They are in charge of learning at STADA, and ensure that employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need.

Challenge

STADA primarily used face-to-face sessions and PowerPoint presentations to train its teams. While effective in certain settings, these trainings weren’t always recorded or captured, which made it difficult to share knowledge across the organization. This meant that when employees left, their knowledge would leave with them. Plus, learner engagement could also be improved. Creating training in PowerPoint made it challenging to structure the content effectively, leading to content-heavy presentations. Lastly, the Learning team tracked attendance and completion manually using Excel spreadsheets, which was time-consuming and prone to errors. The team identified three key areas for improvement in its strategy: making training content more structured and engaging, ensuring training is accessible across the organization, and introducing a reliable method for tracking learner progress.

Solution

STADA found the solution in Easygenerator. With it, the Learning team enabled the subject-matter experts in the company to create and share learning at scale. “We’re a company that really believes in self-empowerment,” says Mélanie, “so Easygenerator was a perfect fit for our growth culture. It allows people to not only own their growth, but by sharing knowledge, they encourage growth in others too.” Employees found Easygenerator surprisingly easy to use—many noted it was simpler than creating PowerPoints. Additionally, the platform provided a structured way to create training, ensuring all content was goal-oriented and engaging. For Mélanie, a key advantage of Easygenerator is the highly competent consulting that comes with it. Users aren’t left to figure things out on their own. Instead, they receive ongoing support, and the customer success team provides additional training or technical help whenever needed. Tara particularly appreciates Easygenerator’s collaborative features. “We can have five people working on a course at the same time, and it never lags,” she says. “We all see the changes in real time.”

Result
1,700+
courses created

Since adopting Easygenerator, STADA has created over 1,700 courses globally, with more than 600 authors using the platform to develop expert-led learning content. They moved from Excel spreadsheets to an accurate system for tracking learner progress. Learners can now pick up training right where they left off, improving their experience. Since STADA operates in around 45 countries, the translation feature has been key for scaling training. Courses are regularly translated into 13 languages, with some reaching up to 18 languages, making training accessible to all employees in their native languages. Best of all, STADA’s knowledge is now stored in Easygenerator and easily accessible to anyone who needs it. This way, STADA has mitigated the risk of losing knowledge when employees leave.

How STADA did it

To raise awareness about Easygenerator at STADA, Tara took the lead as Easygenerator’s ambassador within the company, introducing the platform through demos, group sessions, and one-on-one onboarding. Now, each team has someone who knows the tool, ensuring full autonomy in creating training. To further promote a culture of knowledge sharing, Tara organized an Easygenerator hackathon, choosing 50 participants from cross-functional teams across the world. Employees formed teams and proposed e-learning topics, with each team creating two modules: one on a general department-related topic and another focused on a specific area of expertise. This event encouraged employees to engage with Easygenerator creatively, emphasizing STADA’s culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
